One Book New Jersey Suggested Programs
If you have an idea for a program that you think other libraries or schools could do, please Contact Us and we'll add it to the suggested list.
- Book discussion. Suggested discussion questions for the adult, young adult and middle grade selections are all available on through this website.
- Film showing and discussion (Both To Kill a Mockingbird and The Hoboken Chicken Emergency have films available.)
- Storyhours
- Costume party - Wear an animal costume to fool Gritch.
- Trivia nights - complete with teams - who remembers the most the adult, YA or middle grade selections.
- Have your class or discussion group set up a mock trial to tie into To Kill a Mockingbird.
- Contests
- "I went to the store for a turkey and came home with": have kids draw pictures or write a short piece to finish the sentence. Arthur came home with a 266 pound chicken - who can top that?
- While a dunk tank might not be possible, how about a water-balloon toss and other boardwalk type games? Either just for teens - or have the teens put together the games and offer it as a family program
